CLV Sports Trips
March 28, 2012
This year has seen the addition of sports trips to the CLV events calendar. These events offer a way for residents to socialise with fellow residents and staff while enjoying a good day/night out. Often, this is at a discounted rate. This is a particularly great opportunity for newcomers to Brisbane and the village to get amongst it and meet some new people and gives them opportunities that they may not have otherwise had.
So far, these events have proven to be a massive success. We were very unlucky with poor weather at the cricket which meant we had to cancel but the Brisbane Roar A-League game and the Broncos vs Cowboys game saw a combined 50 odd people come along for some Suncorp fun. At the Roar game we had the opportunity to give away a Roar jersey to one lucky resident. The jersey was won by Emily who wore it proudly, and co-indecently was also one of the best dressed, sporting full orange attire. After the game, many people who met at the game went out for dinner and drinks, and from all accounts, was a good night for all.
The Broncos vs Cowboys game started with some casual pool in the Vibe. Everyone was treated to one of the closest derby games in years with the Cowboys stealing it at the death. No matter who you supported, no one left disappointed after seeing a classic game of NRL.
The sports action is set to continue with a trip to the Gold Coast for the A-League on March 25 and a trip to Suncorp for a Queensland reds game on April 20. Tickets can be purchased from reception and prices for the Gold Coast trip will be released in the coming days! This will be a great opportunity to meet some CLV Gold Coast residents who we often link up with to do events, namely the ski trip. It is guaranteed to be a good evening out so book your tickets at reception! There will be prizes for the best dressed team supporter on the night!
